Clubs and national teams from a total of 22 different countries have already registered for the event and will shine on the carpet of the 6th Aphrodite Cup (Belgium, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Greece).
The competitive level of the tournament is expected to be quite high, too, as all rising stars of Greek rhythmic gymnastics will be there:
Individual competition local star Eleni Kelaiditi and the Greek Group, who will all have their last chance for the Olympic qualification in April and May, will seek for the perfect performance in Palaio Faliro, as a booster ahead of the crucial pre-Olympic events. Along with them, the top junior individual gymnasts and the Junior Group of Greece, will also show their skills during the three days of the competition.
Aphrodite Cup, which is organized by the GOPF Armonia gymnastics club, the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation and the Municipality of Paleo Faliro, has been established since 2015 as a celebration of woman’s role in sport, hailing the beauty of rhythmic gymnastics and being the only Gymnastics event of the year which is held on Greek soil and forms part of the FIG annual calendar.
The event is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the General Secretariat of Sport and the General Secretariat for Family Policy and Gender Equality.
Public radio-television network ERT and ERA SPORT, and pay-tv network COSMOTE TV are the media sponsors of the event.
