Greece is ready to welcome two major international Rhythmic Gymnastics events within a a fortnight, starting with the seventh edition of the Aphrodite Cup held between 11-13 March at the Faliro Olympic Indoor Hall.
A week later the glamorous FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup – Palaio Faliro 2022 will be at the centre stage with three more days (18-20 March) of top-class competition in the same venue, a top-tier event that will feature some of the sport’s brightest stars.
The Hellenic Gymnastics Federation rates highly both events as it seeks to boost the image of the sport locally and bounce back to the elite internationally.
At the 7th Aphrodite Cup, 135 gymnasts representing 14 countries from three continents are poised to compete. Under the guidance of national coach Marina Fateeva, Greece’s group will present their brand new routines in the 5 hoops as well in the 3 ribbons + 2 balls. Group members are Elpida Egglezou, Kalomoira Karoki, Irini Konisti, Korina Lykaki, Katerina Pagoulatou and Marieta Topollai.
The juniors individual competition will feature Eira Laura Gkioka, Konstantina Kaloidou, Eftsathia Kontopoulou, Irini Kralli, Ioanna Liaskou, Athina Marinaki, Ourania Sygkouna and Sofia Tsolaridou.
Admission is free for both events until 50 percent of the stands is filled, according to the latest health protocol.
