The participation of gymnasts from all over the world, including distant countries such as Chinese Taipei, South Africa, Australia or Canada, will make special the 5th annual edition of the International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament “Aphrodite Cup”, which will be held from March 15th to 17th at the Olympic Indoor Stadium of Palaio Faliro, in Athens.
Gymnasts from five continents will shine on the carpet of “Aphrodite Cup 2019”, which has already registered participants from 20 different countries (Australia, Britain, Canada, Czech Republic, Chinese Taipei, Cyprus, Germany, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Greece).
The competitive level of the tournament promises to be quite high, too, as all rising stars of Greek rhythmic gymnastics will be there:
Individual competition national champion Eleni Kelaiditi and the Greek Group, who will all fight for the Olympic qualification in September 2019, along with the top junior individual gymnasts and the Junior Group of Greece, will try to show their best in Palaio Faliro, where the Junior Group Competition is expected to be a really interesting one, given the fact that more than 10 national teams have already been registered.
“Aphrodite Cup”, which is organized by the GOPF Armonia gymnastics club, the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation and the Municipality of Paleo Faliro, has been established since 2015 as a celebration of woman’s role in sport, hailing the beauty of rhythmic gymnastics and being the only Gymnastics event of the year which is held on Greek soil and forms part of the FIG annual calendar.
