Panagiota Lytra rose to the occasion on Day 2 of the 9th Aphrodite Cup held in the Faliro Olympic Indoor Hall to claim the gold medal in the Individual All-Around competition.
Greece’s champion, who found herself third in the rankings following her Day 1 results, fought back to earn the best score in her routine with Clubs and the second-best behind Kazakhstan’s Aibota Yertaikyzy in her performance with Ribbon to secure the best overall score with 26.650 points. Yertaikyzy was second in 25.600 and her fellow compatriot Milana Parfilova was third in 25.050. Nikol Todorova of Bulgaria who held the lead after the conclusion of Day 1, pulled back in fifth place.
Moreover, Lytra became the only gymnast, along with Yertaikyzy and Israel’s Kristina Ternovski to qualify in all four Apparatus Finals.
Victory in the Aphrodite Cup, will surely give a psychological boost to Lytra who’s aiming to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games via the upcoming European Championships in Budapest.
