In their first test ahead of the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup – Palaio Faliro 2022, Greece’s gymnasts won the Senior Groups All-Around competition at the 7th Aphrodite Cup held Faliro Olympic Indoor Hall.
Following yesterday’s (March 11) performance at the 5 Hoops which gave them 27.200 points, Greece was rewarded with 21.700 points by the judges for their 3 Ribbons + 2 Balls routine for a total of 48.900 points.
Latvia trailed again today with 19.300 for a sum of 42.750 points.
Day 3 will see both national teams competing in the apparatus finals.
Bulgaria swept all medals in the Seniors All-Around
Bulgarian gymnasts won all three medals in the Seniors All-Around competition. Stiliana Nikolova became the 2022 Aphrodite Cup champion with a total of 118.950 points.
Magdalina Minevska (2nd) and Radina Tomova (3rd) claimed the other two places on the podium gathering 118.450 and 114.900 points respectively.
The following gymnasts ranked in places between 4-8:

- Dilnaz Bailenova (Kazakhstan) 109.350;
- Lachezara Pekova (Bulgaria) 105.050

Milana Parfilova from Kazakhstan narrowly edged fellow compatriot Erika Zhailauva by a mere 0.100 points to win the Juniors All-Around competition. Parfilova amassed 109.400 points to Zhailauva’s 109.300. Spectators enjoyed a spectacular battle for gold as third-ranked Christina Dragan from Romania was pretty close as well with 109.250 points.
Parfilova was better in the hoop routine (28.850), while Zhailauva lost ground in the clubs (25.450) and Dragan in the hoop (25.850), a result which gave Parfilova the edge ahead of her rivals.
Kazakhstan’s Aruzhan Kalsayeva (101.900), Aksungkar Abdirakhman (98.300) and Aruzhan Ukosheva (98.000) placed in positions 4-6, while German Niki Gotchewa was seventh with 97.150 points.
Poland’s Liliana Lewinska got the best mark of the day in the ball. For her performance the judges rewarded her with 29.150 points. Lewinska easily won the separate classification for gymnasts born in 2008 with a total of 108.950. TSV Schmiden athlete Lada Pusch from Germany won silver with 103.350, while home-favourite Ourania Sygkouna gave fans a reason for a warmer applause with her third-place (102.900).
Gold in the All-Around competition for girls born in 2009 was captured by Romania’s Amalia Lica. With a total of 103.500 she finished fifth in the general classification and well ahead of Greek Ekaterini Cholidi-Dali of Filthlitikos Kalitheas (89.200) and Belgium’s Camille Fovel (88.250) in her own age group.
